Benefit of Reading Books!

You are the same today as you will be in five years, except for the people you meet and the books you read"

This quote of Charlie "Tremendous" Jones is the essence of why people should read books. This is why we would like our children to spend lots of time in reading books.

Not only that Reading books is one of the most contenting activities, it opens the reader mind, and expands the reader's horizons. It enables people to travel by their imaginary wings and experience adventures and new lands.

But reading is not only a pleasure. It is also most important, and for many reasons. Some of these reasons are very practical. Reading had become a fundamental need in life. It is well known that adults that have read at younger age are more prepared for life requirement for productivity in the future.

The vast inventory of books provides endless opportunities to the readers, no matter their age, to experience and study subjects such as science, physics, mythology, philosophy, financenew age, cooking, biographies, medicine and so on. The list is actually endless.

People and specifically Children that are exposed to this endless inventory expand their vocabulary and consequently their understanding and knowledge.

In the introduction of computers and web based information technology, people had predicted that printed books would vanish. However, it happened that this technology actually increased the amount of information that is being read. Also, the web based information technology exposed the written word to larger population. A new trend has also emerged, E-books. Reading, now days, is not only based on printed information. Reading is accomplished also online, and by E-books that are available on the internet for everyone.

A wonderful quote, by Joseph Addison, succeeds to compose the reading importance and the reading joy. The quote runs as follows:

"Books are the legacies that a great genius leaves to mankind, which are delivered from generation to generation as presents to posterity of those who are yet unborn"

Reading Books About World War II

Today it becomes important for all to read books about World War II and the events that led to the catastrophe that changed the lives of all people on our earth. It is important for us to know our history.

World War II had far-reaching effects on people, politics, and economy, country and in short the entire life. By studying World War II as a subject, one can get an insight and valuable lessons for all of us.

After reading about World War II, you will be filled with a sense of awe and also feel grateful for your peaceful existence in the present times. You will be thankful for what life has offered you.

The sufferings of the people in Eastern Europe in 194os can move one's heart and fill us with a sense of loss and despair. But then one also starts viewing our life as it is today with a new perspective and begin to thank god for the mercy.

They say that History repeats itself. This is true, for we can see that all through the evolution of the earth, every civilization has seen wars and struggles going on in one or the other part of the earth. This seems to have been the order of the day all over for different reasons and causes, but fighting seems to be inherent in the nature of mankind on earth. You begin to see the pattern when you read about world history.

By reading the past world history and civilizations we get to understand and see where people made mistakes and countries blundered. But then why is it that we do not seem to learn from these mistakes but continue to repeat the same mistakes all the time? Surely Adolf Hitler was not the first man to commit atrocities against people, nor was America the first nation to use slaves. What is it that prompts us to repeat the same mistakes others have made in the past.

Read world history and you will begin to understand what man is doing to one another and running around and doing things that can only destroy himself and his environment.

The awareness that one gets by reading books about World War II might prompt us to look at the direction that all countries need to follow in future for the overall benefit of human society.
